SPRING 2013

Spring is upon us and I am working on several artistic projects.  The first one was a calendar for this year, but I only sent it out to a couple of people.  The reason for that was I didn't get it bound until now!  Had I known about the binding kits that you can get at the office supply stores, I would have had it out in December.  Oh well.  This calendar was of my landscapes and I'm not sure what the calendar will be for next year.  Maybe pet portraits!

I'm now offering the pet portraits in watercolor as well as pencil and pastel.  I've even made up a 3-fold flyer to post advertising the portraits, but, more places are removing their bulleting boards, so there are fewer places to post them!  My luck.

Hope everyone is doing well and looking forward to spring as much as we are here at Tabby Abbey.

REMEMBERING BOBBY

Our Thanksgiving holiday was saddened by the loss of our second oldest and one of our longest residents, Bobby.

Bobby had been in failing health for some time and was on several medications and dailly fluids.  He always took the meds and fluids well, but just became weaker and thinner.  He always would purr when I held him for the meds or other times, but he had more bouts of confusion and not being able to find his way around the cat porch.  His brother, Julio, is the last of the three feral kittens I took in back in 1994 when I lived in the condo.  Their brother, Timmy, left us last year at Thanksgiving. Julio is also in poor health and receives meds and fluids on a daily basis.  Julio is still active and enjoys a bit of play at times.  Bobby hadn't been playful for a long time, but he liked to be fussed over and brushed gently.

Tabby Abbey population is currently: Julio, Socks, Henry, Smudge and Cousin Twinkie.  I miss the ones that are gone and  am thankful for the ones I still have.

CANDLE LIGHTING--By Momcat

Our Halloween Candle Lighting took place last night around 8pm.  Lucky for us the wind had died down and the candles stayed lit!  This year we used the ceramic pumpkin luminaries on each of the K-9 markers so from inside the house it was easy to pick them out.  Most of the candles had gone out, but two of them were still burning around 4am when I got up.  It's sad to see those 32 markers out there, but it means that each one of the furry persons were/are deeply loved and won't be forgotten.

MY BAD----COMPUTER!

My old faithful computer has let me down.  Back in July, it went haywire and has been shut off since.  I will have to put in a call to a fix-it guy and see if, IF it can be made to work again.  Until then (hopefully soon now) I'll be making that call.  Light a candle, chant, dance, whatever that it can be fixed so I can go on with my various projects.

ART SHOW UPDATE

We posted that I was to have my art work on display at the local senior center in the fall.  Well, the display was moved up to the month of August.  With everything else that's been going on I never got around to posting the reschedule until now...and by the end of the week I will be going over to take the artwork down.  I'm glad I was able to put things on display for the whole month, but the enjoyment was rather hollow after the major loss......

Thank You -- by Marylou

I want to thank everyone for their kind words and thoughts on Elmo's passing.  My little buddy is greatly missed and has left a large empty spot.

Thank you all again for your kindness.

SAD DAYS

ELMO 1996 - 2012

Sad news at Tabby Abbey. Elmo left us on  Wednesday, July 25.  He had been in failing health for some time, but his passing was not expected.  Cause may have been due to a stroke or possible brain tumor.  My little buddy will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.

I want to thank the doctors and staff at Dundee Animal Hospital who were instrumental in my being able to have him in my life as long as I did.

ART SHOW! --By Elmo

Mom has been doing landscapes in watercolor for awhile now and she's checked into displaying some of her art work locally.  Seems in the fall mom will have work on display for a month at the local senior center.  She's curently selecting pieces and getting them matted and framed a few at a time to get everything ready.

Mom just finished the one pictured here and already has it in a frame.  This is the Carpentersville Dam where mom takes me walkies every so often when we're out at our old house.
